Description:
CTG is seeking an experienced OSS Database & Platform Engineer to support and modernize mission-critical Telecom Operational Support Systems (OSS) that support TDM-based landline telephony networks. This role is responsible for database administration, platform engineering, infrastructure reliability, and modernization initiatives across complex hybrid environments spanning on-premises data centers, cloud platforms, and legacy telecom infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will bring strong Oracle and Informix database expertise, Linux platform administration experience, and a background supporting large-scale telecommunications environments undergoing digital transformation.
Location: Onsite in Dallas, TX or New Jersey
Duration: 12 Months
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support OSS database platforms across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
- Manage Oracle, Informix, and other enterprise database technologies.
- Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, migrations, backup/recovery, replication, and performance tuning.
- Support migration initiatives from Solaris, HP-UX, and legacy Windows systems to Red Hat Enterprise Linux and modern Windows platforms.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database and platform performance for high-volume telecom operational systems.
- Support hybrid infrastructure deployments across on-premises environments, Microsoft Azure, and AWS Outposts.
- Collaborate with application, middleware, cloud, infrastructure, and network engineering teams during modernization and transformation programs.
- Resolve complex production issues involving databases, operating systems, middleware, and application integrations.
- Contribute to modernization efforts transitioning legacy TDM communications environments toward IP-based architectures.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in database administration, platform engineering, or infrastructure support.
- Strong Oracle database administration experience.
- Experience supporting Informix database environments.
- Expertise in database performance tuning, backup/recovery, replication, and operational support.
- Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in mission-critical production environments.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or telecommunications systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Telecom OSS applications.
- Knowledge of TDM telecommunications environments.
- Experience with Solaris and HP-UX platforms.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and AWS Outposts.
- Experience supporting cloud migrations and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Understanding of IP-based network architectures and telecom transformation programs.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Relevant Oracle, Linux, cloud, or infrastructure certifications are a plus.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $98,000 to $105,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
