Job Description:
Essential Duties:
- This position is responsible for daily care and administration of children in Before and After school enrichment program located within the elementary school setting; screen, hire, train, and develop all staff associated with program; Purchase program supplies, equipment, and food items within budgetary guidelines; Ensure the general health, welfare, and well-being of each child.
- Plan daily lessons and maintain Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) requirements for both staff and children; Schedule and accompany off-site field trips.
- Responsible for being a good communicator to all children, parents, administration, supervisors, and co-workers, providing excellent customer service.
- Enroll and attend 16 hours of off-site in-service annually. Learn and observe all JCPRD guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is also responsible for the supervision and leadership of employees, which includes making employment-related decisions and/or recommendations, and formally evaluating performance.
Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Job Requirements:
- One year of experience with school age children in an organized setting.
- Qualified candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
- Self-motivation and ability to prioritize personal responsibilities and accomplish job tasks with autonomy from close supervision, as well as leadership and supervisory skills required.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Preferred - Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Physical Education, Administration of Parks and Recreation, Early Childhood, Child Psychology, or relevant field.
- Experience may be substituted for degree.
Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
- Lifting – up to 25 lbs.
- Shift work – 7 a.m. – 9 a.m./ 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. (Approx. 30-35 hours a week)
- Travel required approximately 10%-20% of time.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures during field trips or during summer camp season 10% of time;
- All employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
