Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team at Avenir at Mark Twain in Aurora, MO. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient-centered care, with expertise in assessing and improving functional abilities across diverse populations. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in developing individualized treatment plans, facilitating recovery, and promoting independence for patients of all ages. This position offers an opportunity to work in various settings, including inpatient facilities, outpatient clinics, schools, and home health environments, ensuring comprehensive care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional capabilities to identify their unique needs.
• Develop and implement personalized care plans aimed at enhancing daily living activities (ADLs), motor skills, and functional independence.
• Assist patients with activities such as dressing, grooming, mobility, and other essential daily tasks to support their recovery or adaptation process.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physiotherapists, and medical staff—to coordinate comprehensive treatment strategies.
• Facilitate discharge planning by preparing patients for transition back to home or community settings while ensuring continuity of care.
• Work with individuals with disabilities or developmental conditions such as autism to improve functional skills and promote participation in daily life.
• Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic exercises and adaptive techniques.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment outcomes, and care plans in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Experience

• Demonstrated expertise in assisting with ADLs and discharge planning for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with disabilities.
• Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental delays within early intervention or school-based programs.
• Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practices.
