Job Overview
River City ACM is seeking a dedicated and versatile Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality patient care on a PRN (as-needed) basis. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of occupational therapy principles and demonstrate flexibility to work across various settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, schools, and home health environments. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by assisting individuals of all ages in achieving their functional goals, promoting independence, and enhancing quality of life through tailored therapeutic interventions.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs to develop individualized care plans.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, and mobility to foster independence.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions aimed at improving motor skills, coordination, and sensory processing.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning and ensure seamless transition between care settings.
  • Work with diverse populations such as children with autism, individuals in early intervention programs, geriatrics, and those with disabilities in various environments including acute care and skilled nursing facilities.
  • Provide education to patients and families on adaptive techniques and equipment use to support ongoing therapy at home or in community settings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and case management activities in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with advances in occupational therapy practices and healthcare regulations.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy.
  • Experience assisting with ADLs and developing comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Proficiency working with individuals across age groups including pediatrics, geriatrics, and those with autism or disabilities.
  • Familiarity with inpatient settings such as ICU or acute care units, outpatient clinics, home health services, and school-based programs.
  • Ability to perform case management duties efficiently while coordinating discharge planning and post-acute care strategies.
  • Skilled in working within medical teams specializing in speech therapy, physical therapy, nursing, and other allied health disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
