    Job Description

    The Rehabilitation Institute is seeking a Full Time OT Senior for their Mercy Pavilion Low Vision clinic. This position will work daylight hours Monday through Friday and does not require any weekends or holidays!

    The OT Senior is responsible for daily supervision of therapy services within a given clinical service line(s. Provides therapy evaluation and treatment utilizing advanced clinical skills in a specialty area.

    Responsibilities:

    • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and in-service education programs.
    • Participates in the organization's clinical education program by providing clinical supervision of students completing internships from various universities as requested.
    • Maintains written documentation for all occupational therapy services rendered including documentation of initial assessment, follow-up visits, and discharge summary consistent with department standards. Co-signs occupational therapy assistant documentation biweekly.
    • Maintains professional license/registration through steady pursuit and participation in appropriate continuing education and professional development opportunities to satisfy requirements for licensure/registration renewal.
    • Participates in program development. Serves on organizational committees as an active and contributing member as requested.
    • Communicates patient's status to the referring physician and other health care team members.
    • Serves as an educational resource for management of patients with a variety of medical diagnoses for junior occupational therapy staff members. Promotes ongoing staff development through in-services and/or individualized instruction and support.
    • May have an instructional agreement with an institution for academic purposes outside the scope of the clinical practice of Centers for Rehab Services.
    • May serve as Team Leader/Assistant Facility Director, Facility Director or Program Coordinator in absence of the incumbent.
    • Performs occupational therapy assessment, reassessment and treatment and supervises occupational therapy assistants in the treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients referred by a physician to the clinic. Develops plan of care including goals and treatment plan in accordance with physician referral, nature of injury/illness and results of occupational therapy assessment. Modifies or adjusts plan of care based on patient's response to treatment and/or changes in patient's status. Works with occupational therapy assistants to adjust patient programs as patient status changes.
    • Provides verbal and/or written home instructions to patient and/or family members when applicable.
    • Schedules patients to achieve and maintain a level of productivity which meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization while ensuring delivery of quality patient care.
    • Participates as an instructor in professional or community education programs sponsored by the organization as requested.
    • Assists Team Leader(s/Assistant Facility Director(s, Facility Director, or Program Coordinator in performance review process.
    • Completes necessary charge and statistical information to accurately reflect the service rendered to the patient.
    • Rotates through selected treatment areas when necessary to facilitate organizational needs.
    • Graduate of an accredited program approved by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE
    • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated clinical expertise in a specialty area preferred.
    • Previous clinical teaching experience preferred.
    • Program development experience and ability preferred.
    • Six months experience with the Rehabilitation Institute preferred.
    • Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
