Position Overview
The Career Pathway Teacher supports early career exploration by integrating age-appropriate, hands-on learning experiences across multiple vocational and academic disciplines. This role is foundational in helping primary students (Early Literacy through 4th grade) build awareness, curiosity, and enthusiasm for diverse career possibilities through interactive and engaging instruction.
Key Career Pathways Covered
- Introduces basic building principles, safety practices, and tool use through creative construction play, small-scale projects, and collaborative design challenges.
- STEAM to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math)
- Integrates creativity with critical thinking, fostering problem-solving through interdisciplinary projects such as coding + music, robotics + storytelling, or science experiments with visual arts.
- Provides foundational knowledge about health careers, anatomy basics, and first aid awareness using role play, simulations (e.g., "Mini Medical Clinic"), and guest speakers.
- Salute to Service (Military, First Responders, Civic Service)
- Highlights the importance of community roles including military, police, firefighters, and EMTs. Activities include mock drills, uniform days, and thank-you letter campaigns.
- Encourages entrepreneurial thinking with mini-market activities, classroom currency systems, and project-based learning around budgeting, selling, and branding.
Focuses on agricultural literacy, gardening, and food systems. Lessons may involve school gardens, seed-to-table activities, and local farming partnerships
Primary Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with district standards and career pathway themes.
- Collaborate with grade-level teachers to integrate career exploration into the core curriculum.
- Coordinate with local industry and community partners for enrichment opportunities (e.g., guest speakers, field trips, virtual tours).
- Foster a classroom environment of curiosity, inclusiveness, and practical discovery.
- Assess and track student engagement and skill development using creative formative assessments.
- Help organize school-wide Career Day or Pathway Weeks that celebrate different career clusters.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or related field (Career Education or CTE experience a plus).
- Valid teaching certification with appropriate endorsements.
