Summary


SUMMARY: The Otolaryngologist will provide services for Alameda Health System. Services will be on-site at Highland Hospital, San Leandro Hospital and Alameda Hospital.


DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.


1. Provide full-scope ENT services at our ambulatory sites at Highland Hospital, Marina Wellness Center and Eastmont Wellness Center. Surgeries take place at San Leandro Hospital, Alameda Hospital and Highland Hospital.


2. We have a specific need for developing a full service otology program including middle ear reconstruction, mastoidectomy, tympanoplasty, BAHA, stapedectomy, chronic ear disease and balance/vertigo.


3. Provide consultation as requested by medical staff, including collaboration with emergency department physicians regarding an expedited response to the Emergency Department when requested.


4. Provide care to patients in the hospital using a collaborative, team model of care characterized by supportive physician/staff interaction.


5. Organize, attend and participate in Surgery department meetings and other medical staff conferences including continuing education programs.


6. Plan and participate in in-service education programs for general surgery residents, mid-level practitioners, nursing and other staff. We are working to establish part time ENT resident coverage for our service from Kaiser Oakland.


7. Serve as a professional role model for trainees with peers, patients, families and other members of the health care team


8. Work diligently with primary care physician/provider for a seamless transition from outpatient to hospital care with an accurate and timely discharge summary.


9. Cooperate with AHS in implementing new procedures, controls and systems to promote and facilitate quality, cost controls, reimbursement functions, standardization of products and equipment, and any other requests made by AHS.


10. Provide effective and timely communications to referring or admitting physicians, patients and families concerning the clinical status of each patient.


11. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Division Chief or his/her designee.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree is required.


Minimum Experience: Completion of approved post-graduate residency training in Otolaryngology from an accredited hospital or medical center.


Required Licenses/Certifications: Board certified or eligible in Otolaryngology


Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.


Valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Number
