Job Description

About the Role:
The Truck Driver Over the Road plays a critical role in the manufacturing supply chain by ensuring the safe and timely transportation of goods across long distances. This position requires operating heavy-duty trucks to deliver raw materials to manufacturing plants and finished products to distribution centers or customers. The driver must adhere to all federal and state transportation regulations while maintaining the integrity of the cargo. Effective route planning and time management are essential to meet delivery schedules and optimize fuel efficiency. Ultimately, this role supports the manufacturing process by enabling seamless logistics and contributing to customer satisfaction through reliable delivery services. This role will qualify for a $1500 Sign-on bonus.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience driving heavy-duty trucks over long distances.
  • Knowledge of federal and state transportation laws and safety regulations.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug screening.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety inspection procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry or transporting manufacturing-related goods.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
  • Additional endorsements such as Hazmat, Tanker, or Doubles/Triples.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and handle unexpected delays or route changes.
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor truck repairs and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate commercial trucks over long distances to transport goods between manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and customer locations.
  • Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure mechanical soundness and compliance with safety standards.
  • Plan routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines while optimizing fuel consumption and adhering to hours-of-service regulations.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and cargo details in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues during transit.

Skills:
The required skills enable the driver to operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently while complying with all regulatory requirements. Strong navigation and route planning skills are used daily to optimize delivery schedules and fuel usage. Communication skills facilitate coordination with dispatch and customers, ensuring smooth logistics operations.
