Part-Time | Before- and After-School Program

Position Overview

Roseville Area Schools Community Education is seeking dependable, energetic, and caring staff to work in our Out of School Time programs serving students in grades K8.

Youth Workers help create safe, welcoming, and engaging environments before and after school. Staff build positive relationships with students, lead activities, support daily routines, and work collaboratively with their site team.

Multiple positions are available at elementary and middle school sites throughout Roseville Area Schools.

Schedule

This is a part-time, MondayFriday position. Shift times vary based on the assigned school location.

Morning shifts:

Approximately 6:30 or 7:00 a.m.9:00 or 9:30 a.m.

Afternoon shifts:

Approximately 1:45, 3:00, or 3:45 p.m.5:30 or 6:00 p.m.

Applicants should be available to work a consistent schedule at least three to four days per week.

Preference may be given to applicants who can work both morning and afternoon shifts. Morning-only or afternoon-only schedules may also be considered based on applicant availability and program staffing needs.

No weekend hours are required.

Staff must also be available for scheduled staff meetings, activity-planning time, required training, and continuing education. Employees will be paid for required meetings, training, and work-related planning time.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly pay: $17.50 per hour
• Earned Sick and Safe Time
• Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA), participation for employees who meet eligibility requirements

Primary Responsibilities

• Actively supervise students during activities, transitions, meals, indoor play, and outdoor play.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive program environment.
• Build positive and respectful relationships with students.
• Plan and lead engaging activities based on students' interests, strengths, cultures, and learning styles.
• Support student behavior using positive and developmentally appropriate strategies.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Work collaboratively with other staff to support daily programming and student needs.
• Assist with attendance, arrival, dismissal, setup, cleanup, and organization of program spaces.
• Follow program, district, safety, confidentiality, and emergency procedures.
• Participate in staff meetings, required training, planning, and continuing education.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent credential.
• Demonstrated interest in working with school-age youth.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with students, families, and coworkers.
• Ability to report to the assigned work location consistently and on time.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position, including active indoor and outdoor supervision and lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to complete required training and continuing education.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required Minnesota Department of Human Services background-study requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with school-age youth.
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Experience supervising or managing groups of students.
• Experience planning lessons or leading classroom, childcare, recreation, or enrichment activities.
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and with different learning and support needs.
• Interest or experience in technology, recreation, science, literacy, art, music, or other enrichment areas.
