Lead Outbound Operations for a PVF Distributor

EHC is partnering with a client in Southwest Houston to hire an Outbound Logistics Supervisor to run day-to-day shipping activities. You’ll guide a 7–10 person team, keep product flowing, and ensure every order leaves accurately, safely, and on time.

A day in the role

You kick off the morning with a brief safety huddle and equipment checks (forklifts, order pickers, overhead crane, hand tools). With the daily workload report in hand, you assign lanes, plan labor, and authorize overtime as needed. Hot shipments get prioritized as you coordinate with Sales, while Logistics lines up flatbeds, motor freight, and hot shots. Will-call customers are loaded quickly and courteously. Midday, you’re verifying documentation—heat numbers on the Product Release, markings matching releases, BOLs on the right orders—and coaching the team where needed. You drop into a production meeting, flag issues, and close the day by confirming lanes are clear, missed shipments are checked, and the dock is safe and organized.

What you’ll own

  • Run daily shipping operations: picking, packing, checking, and dispatching
  • Delegate work to department leads and personnel; keep the dock clean, organized, and traffic-safe
  • Confirm all equipment is functional; maintain checklists and escalate breakdowns
  • Communicate cross-functionally via email and meetings with Receiving, Sales, Front Office, QC, Logistics, and upper management
  • Review operational reports to balance workload and deploy OT when appropriate
  • Coordinate outbound freight: flatbeds, motor carriers, hot shots; manage dock space with Sales and Logistics
  • Support will-call traffic—accurate, efficient loading and quick turnaround
  • Train team members on processes and procedures; submit training records; target areas for upskilling
