Position Information

This position is responsible for facilitating Outdoor Recreation programs; assisting the Program Leader with program setup, participant supervision, equipment management, and program operations; and helping ensure the safety, effectiveness, and quality of assigned programs through the implementation of established Department standards and procedures.

Essential Functions

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Ensures the safety of all program participants, staff, volunteers, and spectators. Supports assigned Outdoor Recreation programs from setup through completion. Follows the on-site direction of the Program Leader and assists with supervising participants and assigned groups.

Facilitates activities and provides participant instruction within assigned program areas. Monitors participant behavior and compliance with established safety procedures. Reinforces activity instructions and safety rules and reports participant, environmental, equipment, or operational concerns to the Program Leader. Responds to emergencies and assists with implementing appropriate safety procedures.

Maintains an understanding of assigned program activities. Demonstrates technical proficiency appropriate to assigned responsibilities and maintains current certifications required for assigned program areas. Ensures assigned duties are performed in accordance with Department policies, operating procedures, industry standards, and direction provided by the Program Leader.

Assists with the setup and breakdown of assigned programs. Prepares, inspects, distributes, collects, and properly stores program equipment and supplies. Maintains program areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. Identifies unsafe equipment and reports equipment concerns to the Program Leader.

Assists with verifying participant waivers, maintaining attendance records, and completing assigned program documentation and reports. Administers first aid and promptly reports injuries, accidents, equipment concerns, and unusual incidents to the Program Leader.

Communicates professionally with participants, parents, volunteers, County staff, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, exchange information, or resolve problems.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position that is subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol

Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must possess and maintain valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain within six (6) months of hire. Requires successful completion of Department training and demonstration of competency in assigned program areas. Must possess or obtain any certifications required for assigned activities.

Must successfully pass a criminal background check. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia drivers license. Must possess an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) if required to operate County vehicles.
