Custodian for Summer 2026 - Pay wage of $17.65 an hour.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Summer Custodian Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares athletic fields and facilities for all athletic events

  • Cares for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls

  • Responsible for the care, maintenance and inventory of all supplies and equipment owned by the school district

  • Responsible for reporting unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the property

  • Uses hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes

  • Prunes or trims trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws

  • Gathers and removes litter

  • Fills in for custodians around the district and for athletic event coverage during the winter months when outdoor work is at a minimum.

  • Communicates with Athletic Director (daily) and Director of Operations regarding repair/maintenance needs

  • Additional Functions:

  • Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels

  • Working conditions

  • Mental Demands: calculating, comparing, evaluation, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, planning, documenting, specifying. Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner

  • Physical Demands: bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking for prolonged periods of time, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 lbs. Manipulating hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment. Reaching overhead, the shoulder and horizontally to reach and place materials and equipment in certain areas. Occasional carrying, pushing, or pulling. Performing physically demanding work with tools and powered machinery. May require driving a vehicle to conduct work

  • Environmental Conditions: The work is performed primarily outdoors; however, inside work is required on occasion. Regular exposure to fumes, dust and odor, and noise from equipment operation. Work around and with machinery and motorized equipment. Travel between buildings is a requirement
