Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join an outpatient oncology team in San Diego, CA. This is a hybrid role where the RN will support bone marrow procedures at the SDMC location 1–2 days per week and provide direct patient care at the Zion Infusion Center on the remaining days.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to oncology patients in an outpatient infusion setting.
Assist with bone marrow procedures by:
Processing specimens.
Placing specimens into appropriate containers.
Preparing pathology slides.
Completing required documentation.
Delivering specimens to the Pathology Laboratory.
Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure quality patient care.
Support safe administration and monitoring of oncology treatments.
Float between Zion, Otay Mesa, and San Marcos locations based on operational needs.
Note: Patient sedation will be managed by the Interventional Radiology (IR) RN. The Oncology RN is responsible only for specimen handling during bone marrow procedures.
Required Qualifications
Active California RN License.
Current BLS Certification.
Recent Oncology/Chemotherapy nursing experience.
ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) Certification required.
Previous travel nursing experience required.
Ability to float between multiple outpatient clinic locations as needed.
