    Job Description

     
    The Up Center is the oldest and largest child and Family Services agency in Hampton Roads and has been part of our community since 1883. As one of the largest non-profit providers of evidence-based mental health services in our region we provide personal and innovative services to approximately 10,000 children and adults each year. We have a deep understanding how trauma, substance use, and mental illness impacts adolescents and families' ability to thrive. We work daily to transform both our services and the system of care in our community and have clearly stated strategic goals to both champion this need and to increase our capacity to provide critical services. We are seeking either a Licensed or License-Eligible Clinician to support our Western Tidewater Clients out of our Suffolk Office, approximately 10 hours per week (a small portion may be approved as telehealth)
    Role Responsibilities
    •Provide direct clinical counseling to a diversified case load to include individuals, families, marital counseling, parent/child counseling from our Suffolk office or via telehealth during day and evening hours.
    •Performs tasks related to direct practice such as writing progress notes, assessments, 90-day reviews, discharges summaries, and provide case management functions such as making referrals to other agencies, preparing monthly reports, and testifying in court as indicated.
    •Utilizes a variety of treatment modalities according to the requirements of caseload.
    •Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
    •Other duties as assigned.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
    •Master’s degree in social work, counseling or marriage and family therapy and is eligible to seek supervision for licensure in the state of Virginia for an LCSW, LPC or LMFT.
    •Knowledge of principles and practices of professional counseling and or social work, including case work methods and techniques.
    •Knowledge of the functions of social service agencies.
    •Ability to work effectively with other professional disciplines.
    •Communication skills, including the ability to write case records, letters, and reports.
    •Proficient in Microsoft office programs,
    •Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet background check requirements.
    •Ability to have and maintain a working cell phone.
