JOB REQUIREMENTS Education High school diploma or GED required. Must be licensed with the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician before the onset of duties. Experience Excellent verbal communication skills, ability to work in a team environment, and ability to work in stressful environments is essential. The ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks is also desired. Experience in the community pharmacy environment or other healthcare field is preferred. Work is conducted in a normal hospital environment, and involves close eye work and hearing within normal range. Operations will be performed on the computer and multiple other types of technology. Lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds of weight is possible. Pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds may be encountered. Expect frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. JOB SUMMARY An Outpatient Pharmacy Technician in a health system setting supports pharmacists in providing safe, accurate, and patient-centered pharmacy services across outpatient pharmacy operations. Responsibilities include processing and preparing prescriptions, assisting patients with medication pick-up and over-the-counter products, handling insurance claims and prior authorizations, maintaining inventory and medication supplies, operating point-of-sale systems, and ensuring compliance with health system policies, state and federal regulations, and patient privacy standards. The technician collaborates closely with pharmacists, healthcare providers, clinic staff, and patients to promote continuity of care and enhance the overall patient experience. Success in this role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
