Job Title: Outpatient Pharmacy Technician

Location: Portland, OR

Contract Duration: 26 Weeks

Schedule:
• Day Shift | 5x8 Hours
• 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• 40 Hours per Week

Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Outpatient Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations, prior authorization processes, pharmacy benefits administration, and claims review activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, advanced Excel skills, and experience working in a fast-paced managed care environment.

Responsibilities:
• Process and coordinate pharmacy prior authorizations independently
• Review pharmacy benefits, medication utilization policies, and member eligibility
• Handle incoming calls and route urgent matters appropriately
• Communicate with members, providers, pharmacies, and internal departments regarding claims and authorizations
• Perform accurate data entry, claims processing, and documentation
• Research and resolve pended claims, authorizations, and incomplete records
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations
• Audit pharmacy claims and documentation for quality assurance
• Assist with reporting, data analysis, and workflow improvement initiatives
• Provide technical support and education regarding pharmacy systems and processes
• Monitor for fraud, waste, and abuse concerns according to policy
• Utilize pharmacy systems, claims platforms, and Microsoft Office applications effectively

Requirements:
• Active Oregon Pharmacy Technician License required
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• Experience with prior authorizations and pharmacy claims review preferred
• Knowledge of HCPCS, CPT, ICD-10 coding, and pharmacy billing processes required
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment required
• High attention to detail and accuracy required
• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards required
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience preferred
