Position Summary:
The Outreach and Education Associate is responsible for educating consumers about the Managed Care Consumer Assistance Program (MCCAP). Using targeted outreach and presentations, the associate will connect consumers with health insurance enrollment, post enrollment services and support services. The Associate will help individuals and families to navigate the healthcare system by providing support with insurance enrolment, coverage navigation, referrals, and post-enrollment needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- 1-2 years of previous experience with administrative support in healthcare.
- General understanding of Affordable Care Act.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience with data entry.
- Team player and someone who is responsible and professional is necessary.
Key Duties:
- Refer consumers for health insurance enrollment, post enrollment assistance and support services.
- Conduct outreach events and presentations in the community to promote MCCAP services
- Assist individuals with enrollment through NYSOH, Access NY, and Medicare
- Enter outreach, presentation and referral data in the database required for reporting.
- Collects and enter all MCCAP client and outreach date in Salesforce Database as per required deadlines.
- Helps consumers to address social support and other healthcare needs by referring them to other programs.
- Facilitate in-person presentations to educate consumers on health insurance enrollment & post enrollment services.
- Follow up with clients to ensure connection to services.
Compensation: $20.19/hour for 40 hours per week

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:
Applicants must be comfortable working onsite, based out of the Bronx and have availability to commit to a schedule of 40 hours per week, working Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with occasional Saturdays as needed for special outreach events. The position is stationed in the Bronx Health Information Place, but incumbents must be comfortable with visiting other Urban Health Plan locations as needed.
