Job Description

Position Summary:This role is part of an externally funded project geared towards addressing the opioid epidemic in Nassau County via training middle school personnel to screen for risk factors for later opioid usage.

The Outreach Manager''s duties will center around project communications. Key Responsibilities: Advise ways to connect with school districts in order to recruit them for this effort, and then to contribute to the steps of following through on the plan selected by the PI and the team. Engage in every step of the process, including devising flyers or solicitation emails, responding to questions from school personnel or parents, and assisting in gathering and analyzing feedback. Work to establish connections with other organizations relevant to this project''s mission, including locating and identifying relevant connections (based on goals or requests provided by project leadership), establishing contact, and maintaining a positive relationship. Supervise graduate or undergraduate students, or other junior team members who are assigned duties in this area. The outreach manager may be asked to assist other team members as-needed Typical office work, answering phones, creating or updating excel spreadsheets, use of office 365/Microsoft teams and Microsoft office suite, use of google office suite, and other similar programs.  

Minimum qualifications:Bachelor''s degree in any health professions field required, master''s level degree with licensure for clinical work (or eligibility to become licensed with sufficient hours) strongly preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in the field.Demonstrated success with prior outreach efforts, including building and maintaining partnerships (across agencies or across state lines preferred)Experience working in, or in collaboration with, public schoolsProficiency in excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to make graphs and pivot tables.Strong public speaking skills

Preferred qualifications:Experience conducting narcan trainingExperience specific to outreach for substance use programsExperience designing and conducting trainings related to mental health and/or substance use and/or developmental disabilitiesExperience with data analysisExperience working with OMH or similar agenciesSkills in graphic designTrained in Mental Health First AidTraining or experience in any of the following: SBIRT, motivational interviewing, harm reduction strategies.

This job may require travel within Nassau County (to school sites). Hours are typically 9-5 on in-office days, but may vary as requested by the schools this project serves. Sometimes, a 7 AM- 3 PM schedule may be required. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for special events or initiatives.
