Position Summary:
Full-time, permanent appointment. Under the supervision of the Public Health Nurse, the CHWS Outreach & Prevention Coordinator will support the health and wellness of students through assisting in development, implementation, and promotion of educational programs related to student wellbeing such as: mental health, physical health, harm reduction, and prevention-related topics including substance misuse prevention.
This position will: supervise CHWS outreach and prevention student staff, provide coordination and calendar management for the CHWS prevention and outreach efforts, present and facilitate prevention and wellness programs related to health and well-being, and communicate and promote CHWS prevention and outreach programming, events, and initiatives to the wider campus community.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Outreach & Prevention (50%)
Assist in planning, development, implementation, and promotion of programming for various mental health, physical health, harm reduction, and prevention-related topics with a focus on substance misuse prevention
Facilitate workshops, give presentations, and conduct tabling and other types of outreach activities
Provide staff coordination and calendar management for CHWS prevention programming and outreach events
Assist in the planning and coordination of large-scale events including reserving rooms and equipment, managing volunteers/staff schedules, ordering/purchasing food, and set up and clean up
Create content, support student workers in content creation process, and help manage CHWS social media account(s)
Publicize CHWS outreach and prevention events and programming through all available channels (campus calendar, newsletters, flyers/posters, social media, etc.)
Create bulletin board displays, posters, brochures, resource cards, and other materials
Collect and enter data and keep a record of events including number of participants, survey responses, and photographs of events
Leverage the expertise within CHWS and in the Tacoma community to create events, outreach, and experiences that are inclusive and accessible
Supervision & Training Responsibilities (40%)
Supervise the training, development, and daily tasks of Outreach & Prevention student staff
Participate in all aspects of the student staff supervision including hiring, training, scheduling, and day-to-day delegation of duties and projects.
Assist student staff in developing programs, materials, and holding peer educator office hours.
Provide and elicit regular evaluative feedback about student staff performance and progress.
Ensure that student staff are up-to-date and compliant with all CHWS training requirements.
Assist with orientation, student leader training, and CHWS student staff onboarding and ongoing training
Other duties as assigned include, but are not limited to (10%)
Assist in compiling data for reports and presentations
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervision of student employee(s).

The anticipated range for this position is $23.55 to $25.00 per hour. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidates education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
