Alta Planning + Design seeks an Outreach Specialist to support the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) regional Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program. Day to Day
No two days in this role are exactly alike, but there are common work activities that will make up your week:
- Supporting outreach and engagement efforts for the CAMPO regional TDM program, including events, campaigns, and employer initiatives
- Planning and staffing outreach events such as transportation fairs, school events, employer benefits fairs, and community engagements
- Engaging directly with commuters, employees, parents, and students to promote alternatives to driving alone
- Supporting SchoolPool program implementation, including outreach to schools, families, and administrators to increase participation
- Assisting with employer-facing communications and campaigns that encourage mode shift and promote commute programs
- Delivering presentations, lunch-and-learns, and engagement activities for employers and community groups
- Supporting program and project management tasks, including scheduling, coordination, and tracking deliverables
- Collecting and tracking outreach data, participation metrics, and survey results to support program evaluation
- Preparing materials for meetings, outreach events, and regional coordination efforts
- Supporting Alta’s regional growth efforts through relationship-building, outreach support, and participation in business development activities
- Coordinating logistics such as materials, inventory, transportation of equipment, and event setup
- Collaborating with project managers and team members to ensure successful program delivery
Qualifications
Required
This position requires a combination of skills, experience and education including, but not limited to:
- Comfortable conducting in-person outreach independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual communication tools
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel locally throughout the Austin region (access to a vehicle preferred
- Ability to lift and transport outreach materials (25+ lbs)
- Self-motivated and proactive in day-to-day work
- Interest in outreach, communications, marketing, or community engagement
- Ability to support program and project management tasks
There are a number of additional skills, experience, and education that would be beneficial to this position including, but not limited to:
- 1–3+ years of experience in outreach, communications, marketing, education, or community engagement
- Experience working with schools, youth programs, or family-focused initiatives
- Experience supporting employer programs or workplace engagement efforts
- Familiarity with behavior change campaigns or TDM programs
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, planning, marketing, environmental studies, or related field
- Interest in transportation, sustainability, or public sector programs
- Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred
What We Offer
Compensation
The pay range for this job in Austin is $55,000-$65,000 annually. Placement within the range is based upon experience, skill sets, and qualifications.
