Job Responsibilities
Community Engagement and Education: Develop and implement community outreach programs to educate the public about substance abuse, addiction, and opioid dependency. Conduct workshops, seminars, and informational sessions in various community settings to raise awareness and provide resources.
Collaboration with Community Partners: Build and maintain strong relationships with local organizations, healthcare providers, schools, and other stakeholders to coordinate efforts and maximize the impact of outreach initiatives. Collaborate on joint projects and events to broaden community reach.
Support and Resource Provision: Serve as a point of contact for individuals seeking information and support related to substance abuse and recovery. Provide guidance on accessing treatment options, support groups, and other resources available in Ocean County.
Data Collection and Reporting: Gather and analyze data on community needs, outreach effectiveness, and public health trends to inform program development and improvement. Prepare reports and presentations for departmental review and community feedback.
Program Development: Assist in the design and implementation of innovative outreach strategies and health education materials tailored to diverse audiences. Ensure that all programs are culturally sensitive and meet the needs of different demographic groups.
Advocacy and Policy Support: Advocate for policies and programs that support substance abuse prevention and recovery efforts at local and state levels. Participate in task forces and committees focused on public health and addiction services.
Event Coordination: Organize and participate in community events, health fairs, and other public forums to promote awareness and provide education on substance abuse issues. Ensure the presence of the department at relevant community gatherings.
Flexibility and Availability: Be willing to work evenings and weekends as required to engage effectively with the community and accommodate various outreach activities and events.
