Job Summary
The Outside/On-Site Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual machining equipment to perform precision repairs on mechanical equipment and structures at customer sites and company facilities. The role requires travel, night shift availability, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Transport, set up, and operate machining tools, equipment, and fixtures.
Perform precision machining using portable milling machines, clamshell lathes, line boring systems, grinders, hydraulic tensioning systems, and hand/power tools.
Measure machined components using precision measuring instruments.
Select, install, align, and remove cutting tools, fixtures, and accessories safely.
Perform mechanical assembly and disassembly of equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical instructions.
Determine the appropriate tools and machining methods for assigned tasks.
Operate lifting equipment and overhead cranes when required.
Coordinate on-site work with customers and government representatives.
Track parts and job progress using maintenance management systems.
Complete inspection reports and document work performed.
Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with all safety procedures.
Work overtime, evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
