Telecon is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to take on the role of Outside Plant Engineer . This position supports civil underground and outside plant (OSP) construction projects from pre‑construction through closeout, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with client, municipal, and regulatory standards.Pay Range: $65,000–$80,000 per year (based on experience)ResponsibilitiesProvide frontline coordination and oversight for civil underground and OSP construction projectsSupport projects from pre‑construction planning through final closeoutParticipate in job walkouts, pre‑construction meetings, and site coordination meetingsReview and interpret construction drawings and specifications for constructability and complianceCoordinate daily field activities with subcontractors and construction crewsMonitor construction progress, workmanship quality, and material complianceTrack and report subcontractor production quantitiesIdentify and report discrepancies in construction methods, materials, or scopeAssist Project Managers with resolving field‑related issuesSupport preparation of change orders and out‑of‑scope/overage requestsEnsure compliance with safety policies, client standards, and regulatory requirementsMaintain accurate inspection reports and construction documentationCommunicate regularly with state, county, city, and other agencies to gather information on planned or overlapping projectsRepresent Telecon professionally when interacting with clients, inspectors, and stakeholdersQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering/Technology preferred1–3 years of hands‑on experience in telecommunications, utility, or civil underground construction environmentsWorking knowledge of NESC guidelines, OSP construction standards, and permitting requirementsProven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and translate them into field executionComfortable working in active construction zones, outdoors, and in varying weather conditionsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple moving pieces in a fast‑paced field settingProficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentationClear, confident communication skills with the ability to work effectively with crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal teamsSelf‑directed and dependable, with the ability to make sound field decisions without constant supervisionValid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to project sites as requiredWillingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, depending on construction schedulesAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical job‑site related tasksEmployment EligibilityEmployment with Telecon is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check in accordance with Washington State's Fair Chance Act.
