Compensation: $70,000 Base Salary + 3% Commission

Position Overview
Our client, a manufacturer of architectural stainless steel cable and mesh systems, is seeking an Outside Sales Representative / Estimator to support customers and develop new business throughout New York while providing project estimating support across the Northeast.
The company’s products are used in architectural and safety applications including railing infill, fall protection, rooftop enclosures, bridges, green walls, landscaping applications, and specialty enclosures.
This position combines outside sales, business development, technical estimating, and project support. The ideal candidate has experience with building materials, architectural products, metal fabrication, fencing, steel products, or a related construction environment and can confidently interpret drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow customer relationships throughout the New York sales territory.
- Prospect and develop new business with architects, general contractors, metal fabricators, installers, landscapers, and other construction-industry customers.
- Prepare project estimates for customers throughout ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, and PA.
- Review architectural drawings, construction documents, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate estimates.
- Provide customers with pricing, product availability, order status, and technical product information.
- Work with architects and specifiers during the design and specification process.
- Coordinate with contractors and installers from specification through installation.
- Develop quotations and support projects involving stainless steel cable, mesh, and architectural metal systems.
- Manage multiple projects at different stages of design, estimating, ordering, and installation.
- Conduct cold and warm outreach to identify new customers and project opportunities.
- Deliver customer presentations and participate in trade shows, industry events, and networking activities.
- Visit customer locations and jobsites throughout the assigned territory.
- Troubleshoot product, installation, order, and delivery issues.
- Coordinate orders, returns, exchanges, samples, and marketing materials with the Sales Support team.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Production, and Operations to keep projects moving on schedule.
- Maintain customer, project, quotation, and opportunity information within CRM and ERP systems.
- Travel approximately 20%–50%, including trips within the Northeast territory and periodic visits to the manufacturing facility in Addison, IL.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 3+ years of building-material, construction-product, technical sales, estimating, or business-development experience.
- Experience with steel, cable systems, architectural metals, fencing/panel systems, or metal fabrication strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction plans, and project specifications.
- Experience developing project estimates and quotations.
- Understanding of construction materials, installation practices, and applicable building requirements.
- Experience developing new accounts and managing existing customer relationships.
- Strong prospecting, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and customer-service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Experience using CRM, ERP, estimating, or related business systems.
- Ability to work independently within a growing and evolving organization.
- Willingness to travel 20%–50%.
