Job Description
Norco is currently seeking an individual to fill our Industrial Outside Sales Position. The Industrial Outside Sales Representative is responsible for building strong professional relationships and working very closely with Norco customers. The positions' goal is to expand overall sales, improve overall margin, introduce, and sell new products, secure business with long term supply agreements, all while taking excellent care of our expanding customer base. Problem solving includes troubleshooting and resolving higher-dollar customer issues and managing relationships with significant accounts. Impact includes potential for significant customer service, reputational, and financial implications. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both potential and existing customers, serving their various needs, and calling on them with consistency
- Understand and be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of products we sell (features and benefits)
- Consistently review and report on sales calls, sales outcomes and sales opportunities (to branch managers, product managers, Region VP's, or Exec. VP, whichever is appropriate for the item)
- Create an annual plan to improve the business in four key areas: serve, grow, enhance, and protect
- Maintain an acceptable minimum level of margin for the assigned sales account roster and for any new business
- Consistently present new products to the customer base and to competitive accounts
- Work closely with product managers and vendors to grow and enhance the sales portfolio
- Understand the nature and strength of the competitive business forces within the markets served, and act accordingly to defend Norco business
- Secure Norco business through the use of product supply agreements (where applicable)
- Call on and communicate consistently with Norco customers, establishing their preferred method of doing business (in person, fax, by phone, Ecommerce, or other methods that should develop)
- Expose and convert appropriate customers to Norco's Ecommerce offering; demonstrate the "value of accuracy, time and repetitive ordering ease." Manage and communicate appropriate price increases to the customer base
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and work closely with key Norco vendor partners
- Continuously work to sell the products which align Norco with key vendor partners and deliver the highest level of margin
- Support industry shows, training seminars, or other local area events as deemed valuable for the specific sales portfolio
- Attend appropriate product skills, sales skills, and industry trainings as deemed valuable
- Perform other tasks as assigned or necessary
Qualifications
- 6 months previous sales experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Basic mechanical understanding of equipment and products sold by Norco
- Ability to work with a diverse clientele
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) a plus
- Ability to frequently lift up to 35 lbs
- Valid regular driver's license
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (processing paperwork, etc.)
