Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has multiple exciting opportunities for an Outside Scheduler for our office in Norfolk.

Employment Type: Full-Time, In-Person

Benefits: M/D/V, Life Ins., 401(k)  

Compensation Range: $18.75/hr - $22.16/hr

 

Responsibilities:
  • Schedules physician referrals and/or outside testing and labs as directed by physician
  • Obtains necessary insurance authorization
  • Communicates to patients the type of test, any necessary prep, and date/time/location of appointment
  • Follows up on all tests to ensure completion prior to next visit with physician
  • Researches and responds to routine and non-routine inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five years medical office experience preferred 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office  (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies.   Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds.  Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and other such office equipment.  Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.  It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
