What you’ll do
- Operate an overhead crane to move and stage scrap materials in a busy metals yard.
- Complete equipment inspection reports every shift and follow startup, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
- Live our Safety Culture: participate in CMC Safety Programs, wear required PPE, and stay alert to hazards—reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
- Communicate clearly with ground teams about production priorities, issues, and equipment needs.
- Perform minor/routine maintenance without assistance and assist maintenance personnel when requested.
- Troubleshoot work-related problems using your experience, job knowledge, and collaboration with others.
- Suggest improvements to methods and procedures to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in and around your work area every day.
- Carry out tasks assigned by operations support management safely and on time.
What it takes to thrive
- Team player in a fast-paced environment with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and solid organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrated dependability in attendance and work completion, plus flexibility to meet business needs.
- Able to learn quickly and multitask.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort working around temperature extremes, chemicals, dust, fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces.
- Some overtime required; ability to work planned overtime and respond to unplanned emergencies.
- Willing to work a rotating shift that may include weekends and holidays.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
