    Reports To: Facility Director
    Location: Jacksonville, FL


    Position Overview

    The Electronic Monitor is responsible for monitoring client movements and electronic monitoring devices to support accountability and compliance with facility rules. This role installs and tracks monitoring equipment, documents alerts, maintains equipment inventory, and supports the safety and security of clients, staff, visitors, and the facility.

    Key Responsibilities

    The following duties represent the primary responsibilities of this position. Additional duties may be assigned as operational needs require.

    • Orient clients and install assigned electronic monitoring devices.

    • Monitor clients assigned to electronic devices and track device activity daily.

    • Document alerts and monitoring activity accurately in the Electronic Monitoring System.

    • Inspect equipment for deficiencies and maintain accurate inventory logs for devices in use and storage.

    • Maintain professional communication with facility staff, partner institutions, and central office personnel.

    • Follow and enforce applicable policies, operating procedures, emergency plans, and daily directives.

    • Prepare accurate reports, forms, logs, and chronological event documentation.

    • Support overall facility safety, security, client accountability, and emergency response procedures.

    • Attend required meetings and trainings and report equipment, maintenance, or safety concerns promptly.

    • Maintain professionalism, composure, and respectful conduct while performing other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    Education

    • High school diploma required.
    • Must be at least 18 years old.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 2 years of computer experience required.
    • Experience using computer-based monitoring, tracking, documentation, or recordkeeping systems is beneficial.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate the Electronic Monitoring System and WRIMS.
    • Ability to prepare accurate, concise reports, forms, logs, and chronological event records.
    • Ability to accurately count persons and account for those absent.
    • Ability to search persons and areas and identify or remove contraband as required.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and follow policies, procedures, emergency plans, and directives.
    • Ability to maintain physical and mental alertness and professional composure in stressful situations.

    Licenses / Certifications

    • Valid Florida driver’s license required in accordance with applicable Florida statutes.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Four years of experience working with computers preferred, particularly in a correctional setting or with criminal justice / at-risk clients.
    • College degree preferred.
    • Applicants with applicable skills in related areas may be trained.

    Work Environment

    This position operates in a structured program environment and requires regular use of electronic monitoring equipment, computer systems, and facility documentation. The role involves direct interaction with clients, staff, visitors, and partner personnel while supporting safety, security, and compliance.

    Responsibilities may include:

    • Working within secure or structured program environments
    • Monitoring client movement and electronic monitoring alerts
    • Routine computer-based documentation, reporting, and equipment inventory
    • Standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods of time
