Description:
IU Health is seeking a highly motivated Overnight ICU/ED Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Methodist/University Hospital in Indianapolis. This role serves a Level 1 Trauma Center within a dynamic, high-acuity environment, providing advanced clinical pharmacy services across the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Units.
This position offers a unique opportunity to practice at an academic health center in partnership with the Indiana University School of Medicine, contributing to interprofessional collaboration, education, and clinical excellence. Additionally, pharmacists will have the opportunity to be part of an exciting transition into IU Health's new, state-of-the-art hospital scheduled to open in 2027.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services in the ICU and Emergency Department during overnight hours
Participate in rapid response and code situations as a medication expert
Optimize pharmacotherapy through direct patient care, order verification, and clinical interventions
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and residents
Support medication safety initiatives and ensure compliance with evidence-based practices
Precept pharmacy residents and students in collaboration with IU School of Medicine and affiliated programs
Assist with protocol development, antimicrobial stewardship, and performance improvement initiatives
Ensure accurate and timely medication dispensing and verification in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited program
Completion of PGY1 pharmacy residency required; PGY2 in critical care or emergency medicine preferred
Board Certification preferred
Active Indiana pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure
Strong clinical, communication, and decision-making skills
Ability to thrive in a high-pressure overnight environment
