Overnight Kennel Attendant

Position Summary

The Overnight Pet Care Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, cleanliness, and well-being of boarding pets throughout the night. This role requires someone who is attentive, trustworthy, and capable of recognizing and responding appropriately to animal emergencies or facility concerns.

Responsibilities

• Monitor boarding pets throughout the night and report any concerns immediately.
• Observe for signs of distress, illness, injury, anxiety, or unusual behavior.
• Perform overnight pet checks and facility walk-throughs.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the facility.
• Complete laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and restocking bedding and towels.
• Clean kennels, suites, common areas, and pet care equipment.
• Prepare the facility for the morning team.
• Ensure doors, gates, and animal areas remain secure.
• Follow all Southern Oasis safety, sanitation, and animal care protocols.
• Maintain accurate overnight logs and communication notes.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and contact management when necessary.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Mature, dependable, and able to work independently.
• Comfortable working overnight and remaining awake throughout the shift.
• Strong attention to detail and observation skills.
• Ability to handle dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments.
• Previous animal care, kennel, veterinary, shelter, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform cleaning duties.

Schedule

• Overnight Shift: Approximately 9 hours per night
• Summer position with immediate openings.
• Additional hours may be available based on business needs.
• Position may be extended beyond the summer based on performance, attendance, and operational needs.
