Overnight Youth Caregiver

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable individual to provide overnight care and support for youth in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. In this role, you will help ensure the well-being, comfort, and security of young people during overnight hours while following established routines, policies, and care plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive overnight supervision and support for youth in care.
• Maintain a safe, calm, and respectful environment throughout the night.
• Respond appropriately to youth needs, concerns, or emergencies according to established procedures.
• Monitor sleeping areas and common spaces as needed to ensure safety and well-being.
• Support bedtime and morning routines, including preparation for school, activities, or transitions.
• Document incidents, observations, and shift updates accurately and thoroughly.
• Communicate important information to day staff, supervisors, and other team members.
• Model positive, trauma-informed, and youth-centered interactions at all times.
• Follow agency guidelines, confidentiality standards, and mandatory reporting requirements.
• Assist with light household tasks related to maintaining a clean and organized living environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or youth in a caregiving, residential, educational, or support role.
• Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or sensitive situations.
• Commitment to youth safety, dignity, and respect.
• Ability to work independently during overnight hours while following direction and protocols.
• Basic computer and documentation skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in residential care, group home settings, shelter services, or youth support programs.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Familiarity with child welfare, behavioral support, or family services environments.
