OWNERSHIP/SUCCESSOR OPPORTUNITY FOR A GLAUCOMA SURGEON IN ALBANY, NY

Job Type:  Successor physician stepping into ownership of the professional corporation.

Subspecialty:   Glaucoma. Fellowship trained strongly preferred. The practice today is glaucoma medical management, in-office lasers, and cataract with premium IOL upgrades. Surgical glaucoma (MIGS, trabs, tubes) is the successor's growth line, not the current book: the founder has referred out most surgical glaucoma for over two decades and does no MIGS, while regional demand is proven. Candidate must be strong in cataract with premium IOLs; surgical glaucoma capability is what unlocks the upside. This is the harder of our two searches and the one we want your team on first.

Practice Location:   Albany / Capital Region, New York.

Population:  Albany / Capital Region metro, roughly 900K.

Physician/ Population Ratio:   Our data shows 49 ophthalmologists across the Capital Region market and zero private equity ownership flags.

MD Or Corporate Owned:   MD owned, solo. Becomes an MD owned PC with the Verdira MSO managing the non-clinical side.

Reason for Job Opening:   The owner is heading toward retirement and wants someone to take over the practice.

If Physician is retiring, how much longer will Physician Work:  Will stay on for a transition period if a successor is already identified.

Experience Requirement:   Glaucoma fellowship trained preferred; surgical glaucoma required; cataract with premium IOL. NY licensed or license eligible.

Partnership Opportunity:   The successor owns 100% of the professional corporation. Zero capital out of pocket, no bank debt, no personal guarantee. They also receive a profits interest in the MSO with a vesting schedule. Full clinical autonomy.

Target Compensation:   The successor owns 100% of the professional corporation and takes its clinical income as residual distributions after PC operating expenses and the MSO management fee. No guaranteed compensation and no cap. Economics scale with the practice's performance under the successor. Verified practice financials (five years, accountant-prepared) are available under NDA for the candidate's own modeling. In addition to the PC's clinical income, the successor holds a profits interest in the management company, subject to a vesting schedule, so they participate in the platform's growth as well as their own practice's.

Retirement Program:  To be structured at close through the MSO.

Other Benefits: The MSO carries everything non-clinical: billing, collections, staff, marketing, equipment, lease, technology, compliance. The physician does zero administration. Malpractice covered.

Relocation:   Negotiable, case by case.

Vacation/PTO:   The physician is the owner and sets their own schedule.

Target Start Date:  Driven by finding the right successor and the seller is flexible on timing once a candidate is identified.

Practice Management:   MSO. Full non-clinical management.

Current patient volume:  Fully booked. 40 to 50 patients per day, 3 to 4.5 clinic days per week, with a 2 to 3 month wait for new patient appointments.

Estimated Surg Volume for this role:   From 2025 verified data: 470 cataract cases with roughly 180 premium IOL upgrades (toric and presbyopia-correcting), 148 SLT, 165 YAG capsulotomies, and additional laser procedures including iridotomies. Surgical glaucoma volume is currently minimal by the founder's choice and represents the successor's expansion opportunity.

Support Staff: Existing staff stay in place and move to MSO payroll.

MDs on Staff:   One, the retiring owner.

ODs on Staff:   None. Staff of six: two front office, three ophthalmic technicians (two COA certified), one bookkeeper. Team stable since 2016.

Partners:   None. The successor is the sole owner of the PC.

OD Network:  To be built out by the MSO.

Office 532 Laser:   Yes. Zeiss Visulink 532 plus Lumenis Digital Duet in a dedicated laser room, professionally appraised, along with Zeiss Cirrus 5000 OCT, IOLMaster 700, and dual Zeiss visual field analyzers.

Hospital Affiliation:   Hospital privileges confirmed; details under NDA.

ASC: Surgery performed at an established regional ASC; founder holds hospital privileges. Details under NDA.

. Skillset Required: ophthalmology, surgeon, glaucoma, cataract, new york
