    Description

    Position Overview

    A regional insurance and financial services company is seeking a Property & Casualty Senior Actuary to provide actuarial leadership across reserving, pricing, and product development functions. This is a hybrid role based in Bloomington, IL, offering a flexible blend of remote and in-office work. The ideal candidate is a credentialed actuary with strong P&C technical skills and the ability to communicate complex analyses clearly to senior leadership and business partners.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead actuarial analyses supporting P&C loss reserving, pricing indications, and product profitability reviews
    • Prepare and present reserve studies, rate filings, and actuarial opinions to senior management and regulatory bodies
    • Collaborate with underwriting, product, and finance teams to inform business strategy with actuarial insights
    • Develop and maintain actuarial models for loss development, trend analysis, and predictive pricing
    • Monitor emerging loss trends and provide guidance on reserve adequacy and rate level needs
    • Mentor and develop junior actuarial staff and support exam progression programs
    • Stay current on regulatory changes, industry trends, and actuarial standards of practice

    Requirements

    • FCAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society) designation required
    • 5+ years of P&C actuarial experience in reserving, pricing, or both
    • Strong proficiency with actuarial software and analytical tools (R, Python, Excel, or similar)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to non-actuarial audiences
    • Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from the Bloomington, IL area

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience across multiple P&C lines including personal auto, homeowners, or commercial lines
    • Background in both loss reserving and pricing functions
    • Familiarity with state rate filing processes and regulatory actuarial requirements
    • Experience mentoring ACAS-level actuaries or supporting CAS exam programs
