Production Welder
Copper State Bolt & Nut Co. is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Production Welder to join our manufacturing team. This position performs welding and fabrication tasks in a production environment while meeting established quality, safety, and productivity standards.
The ideal candidate has experience with MIG, flux-core, or stick welding, can read basic drawings and measurements, and takes pride in producing consistent, quality welds. This is a hands-on production position requiring the ability to work efficiently while following established welding procedures and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations using approved welding processes, equipment, and procedures.
- Read and follow work instructions, blueprints, work orders, drawings, measurements, and basic welding symbols.
- Set up and operate welding machines, hand tools, grinders, fixtures, and related equipment.
- Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, fitting, clamping, and positioning parts as needed.
- Produce consistent, quality welds according to established specifications and procedures.
- Inspect completed welds and finished parts for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications.
- Identify and report defective materials, equipment issues, or nonconforming work to supervision.
- Complete assigned production tasks efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
- Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area using 5S and good housekeeping practices.
- Work cooperatively with production, quality, maintenance, and supervisory personnel.
- Perform other production and fabrication duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous welding, fabrication, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, drawings, measurements, and basic welding symbols.
- Basic math and measurement skills, including the ability to use tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges.
- Knowledge of welding safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Ability to follow established welding procedures and production instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Reliable attendance and ability to meet production schedules.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MIG, flux-core, or stick welding.
- Experience in a production, metal fabrication, or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience using grinders, cutting tools, fixtures, and other fabrication equipment.
- Familiarity with weld inspection, quality standards, and rework procedures.
- Ability to perform basic weld setup and adjustments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials or parts as required by the position.
- Ability to safely work around welding equipment, sparks, heat, fumes, noise, and moving machinery while using required PPE.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary to perform welding and fabrication tasks.
- Ability to visually inspect welds and finished parts for quality and defects.
Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing and production environment where safety, quality, attendance, and productivity are essential. Employees are expected to follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements while supporting production schedules and customer requirements.
