Approximately 15-20 hours per week This is a part-time position that works approximately 1 ½ hours in the morning and afternoon assisting school children in crossing major traffic throughfares in a designed school zone. Reports to the school crossing guard lead.
School Crossing Duties • Assists children at street crossing zones. • Directs children to crossing zones and insures traffic is stopped in order to allow children to cross the street. • Assists in maintaining a safe atmosphere for school children in and around school crossing zones. • Instructs the children on safe conduct when crossing in a school zone. • Records and reports vehicles driving recklessly and at high rates of speed. • Visually and audibly detects hazards for safety concerns. • Stands and uses both arms and hands to direct traffic for extended periods of time in various weather conditions. • Visually and audibly alert to detect traffic hazards for personal and public safety.
Attendance & Performance Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned shift. May at times require flexibility in work hours. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Education and Experience High school diploma or GED preferred. Job requires no previous training in this area. Periodic classes are given to enhance job knowledge and skills. Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License with an acceptable driving record. Supplemental Information
