UPMC is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Hematology / Oncology team. This role is ideal for an APP who is passionate about cancer care and wants to practice within a collaborative environment.
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

UPMC Central PA seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant that will work cooperatively with physicians, other PA's/NP's, RN's and other allied health personnel in the Department of Hematology/Oncology. This position will provide primarily outpatient medical oncology & hematology services, with minor inpatient rounding requirements at the 3 local hospitals within Harrisburg area. CRNPs are expected to obtain their advanced oncology certified nurse practitioner certification (AOCP within 3 years of hire.
Responsibilities include working collaboratively with oncologists, APPs, and the interdisciplinary team to comprehensively care for oncology patients. Tasks may include: comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies, and offering counseling and education to meet patient needs. Background in hematology/oncology is desired but not required.

Advanced Practice Provider:
The Staff or Senior Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is a collaborative member of the care team who provides high-quality patient care through independent clinical judgment and physician collaboration. The APP manages patient care across the continuum, builds strong interdisciplinary relationships, and demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and emerging leadership within the healthcare team.
The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes. The posted salary range for this position is for the Senior level which requires three (3 or more years of experience.
Responsibilities:
Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP
Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program required
BSN required; MSN preferred
Current Pennsylvania RN license and CRNP certification required
National certification and eligibility for licensure and CRNP certification by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
Physician Assistant (PA
Graduation from an ARC‑PA-accredited Physician Assistant program required
Bachelor's or master's degree preferred
Current Pennsylvania PA license and NCCPA certification required
Required for All APP Candidates
Current CPR certification
Successful completion of required Pennsylvania clearances:
Act 34
This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.
