LOCATION: The Heart Group office, 217 Harrisburg Avenue, Lancaster, PA
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm, no weekends, no holidays
POSITION SUMMARY:
The pacemaker technician works collaboratively with the pacemaker technologists, physicians and Nurse Practioners to diagnose all transtelephonic pacemaker testing and aid in the technical management of pacemaker function.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform and assesses patient conditions based on transtelephonic testing for all pacemaker patients using the PaceArt computer system which includes recording timed ECG strips according to current Medicare guidelines and analysis of recordings for appropriate pacemaker function.
- Maintain accurate patient and device information in the patient’s medical and electronic records.
- Detect, identify and verify battery depletion or component malfunction in pacemakers while completing transtelephonic testing and recommend appropriate monitoring or corrective action needed.
- Participate in all aspects of patient education for home (remote) monitoring and transtelephonic monitoring.
- Verify daily patient schedules for upcoming transtelephonic, in-office and home (remote) monitoring appointments.
- Work collaboratively with Suite 600 office staff to Coordinate appointments for new device implants.
- Answer incoming phone calls into pacemaker services department. Analyze and triage patient symptoms and complaints and forward these calls to the appropriate departments.
- Work collaboratively with THG Medical Records Department to review obituaries from local newspapers to update demographic and scheduling information in the Paceart Database.
- Work collaboratively with local company representatives to ensure appropriate patient care occurs at local hospitals, extended nursing facilities and hospice centers as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Lancaster Heart & Vascular Institute personnel to ensure appropriate patient care occurs for patients enrolled in clinical trials.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· HS Diploma or GED
