Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible always for promoting a safety culture and awareness within their area. Always support and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare metal coils by loading skids and packaging according to customer orders.
  • Assist manufacturing with preparing and inspecting bulk products. Reporting and removing defects as needed (i.e. deformed, discolored, misshaped, etc.)
  • Working quickly and effectively to move products from processing to shipping.
  • Visually inspect the strip for proper quality.
  • Proper communication protocol with all manufacturing, quality, and other operations staff to communicate and escalate product or equipment issues as needed.
  • Equipment operation to include, but not limited to heavy machinery and forklift, along with general tools such as wrenches, tape measure, and hammers. 
  • Participate in training and certification programs as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment by removing scrap and other waste, checking machines, and identifying potential hazards.
  • Train new operators, if necessary.
  • Properly use a micrometer.
  • Cut samples for quality control.
  • Assist supervisor/manager and other operators as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass the company mechanical test.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Sufficient ability to maintain records and reports.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Understanding of production procedures.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Teamwork and communication skills.
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g., constant use of protective gear).
