Packaging Associate – 2nd Shift

Openwork is seeking an experienced Packaging Specialist for a growing metals manufacturing facility in Houston. This hands-on role is a great fit for someone with packaging, forklift, warehouse, or material-handling experience who is looking for steady work and long-term potential.

Location: Houston, TX 77028
Pay:$20.00 per hour | Weekly Pay
Shift:2nd Shift | 2:30 PM – 1:30 AM
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Hours: Approximately 40–60 hours per week
Overtime: Required as needed based on production demands
Employment Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire

• Package rolled and flat products according to customer requirements
• Read and follow packing lists, shop copies, and packaging instructions
• Inspect materials for correct dimensions, quality, and defects
• Prepare pallets, crates, shrink wrap, banding, labels, and export packaging
• Operate a forklift to move, stage, and prepare materials for shipment
• Separate, weigh, label, and move scrap materials
• Maintain accurate packaging and material records
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
• Follow all quality, environmental, and workplace safety procedures

• 2+ years of manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or material-handling experience required
• Forklift operating experience required; skills will be evaluated during the interview process
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math
• Ability to pass a basic math test
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
• Reliable and consistent attendance
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality
• Ability to frequently lift 50–75 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain physically active throughout the shift
• Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment and hot temperatures
• Flexibility to work required overtime
• Overhead crane experience is a plus

This is a safety-sensitive metals manufacturing position in a non-climate-controlled environment. Candidates should be comfortable with the following requirements before applying:

• Working around lead-based materials
• Wearing a respirator throughout the entire shift
• Ability to maintain a proper respirator seal in accordance with safety requirements
• Mandatory showering at the end of each shift
• Participation in required periodic blood testing
• Working safely in hot temperatures
• Working around industrial equipment and heavy materials
• Following all required PPE, hygiene, environmental, and safety procedures
