Reporting to the Package Design Supervisor, the Package Designer II will support the development and launch of new package designs and the enhancement of existing packaging. The role involves collaborating directly with customers, coordinating with vendors and suppliers, and working with internal stakeholders to develop, approve, and prototype packaging components.Responsibilities Design and assemble a wide variety of complex packaging systems—primary, secondary, and tertiary—meeting customer requirements and PCI manufacturing capabilities.Create sketches, 3‑D renderings, and visual presentations of packaging concepts.Communicate ideas, solutions, and improvements to customers and internal teams through digital presentations and meetings.Develop and modify packaging structural drawings and web layouts using various CAD platforms independently.Review and edit structural elements to ensure alignment with customer requests and PCI operational requirements.Participate in technical reviews and support project onboarding plans.Perform prototyping duties in the on‑site prototyping laboratory, managing supplies and maintaining equipment.Provide Design Consultation, Conceptualization, Package Development, Sample Preparation, and Package Performance Testing as billable Design Services.Support Senior Designers and Project Leads during project planning and execution.Maintain and track digital assets related to packaging design.Participate in recruiting events for interns/co‑ops and contribute to the candidate selection and onboarding process.Provide training, mentoring, and direction to Junior Designers, interns, and co‑ops.Support internal corporate and marketing activities as needed and contribute to ESG initiatives.Ensure compliance with all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, and rules.Attend work regularly and perform other duties assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2+ years of related industry experience or training.Advanced training in CAD‑based design software (SolidWorks and ArtiosCAD) and proficiency in graphic design and photo‑editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite.Experience in the development of advanced drug‑delivery device packaging and child‑resistant/adult‑friendly packaging, including performance testing and qualification.Experience with thermoforming design/manufacturing technologies and materials.Experience with unit‑dose blister design/manufacturing technologies and materials.Experience with folding carton and wallet‑card design/manufacturing/printing technologies and materials.Good familiarity with project‑management tools and practices, and ability to plan, track, and communicate project status.Basic knowledge of flexible packaging and materials.Basic computer and mathematical skills.Full professional proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.Strong reasoning and problem‑solving skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.Creative and original thinking, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.Compensation & Benefits The hiring rate for this position is $69,920‑$81,000 plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, education, credentials, geography, and subject matter expertise.
