Key Responsibilities
•Develop, review, and maintain UN-compliant packaging designs to ensure adherence to regulatory, safety, and transportation standards.
•Conduct packaging testing and validation to confirm performance under hazardous materials (Hazmat) and transport conditions.
•Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to qualify new vendors, evaluate packaging components, and support onboarding processes.
•Lead cost reduction and efficiency projects, identifying opportunities for material optimization, process improvements, and standardization.
•Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting packaging issues and implementing robust, long-term solutions.
•Analyze packaging performance data to identify trends, drive improvements, and prevent recurring issues.
•Partner with quality and regulatory teams to ensure documentation and specifications meet all global and local compliance requirements.
•Engage cross-functionally with operations, safety, logistics, and supply chain to align packaging performance with divisional goals.
•Stay informed on industry standards, emerging technologies, and sustainability trends to bring forward innovative packaging solutions.
Qualifications
•Education
o Bachelor of Science in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Experience
o 3+ years of packaging engineering experience, preferably within chemical, pharmaceutical, or hazardous materials industries.
o Proven expertise in UN Packaging and Hazmat compliance (CFR 49, DOT, IATA, IMDG).
o Experience in vendor qualification, technical evaluations, and onboarding processes.
o Track record of implementing cost savings or efficiency projects in packaging design or material sourcing.
o Exposure to packaging test methods, performance validation, and root cause analysis.
o Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
o Strong understanding of UN performance testing, regulatory labeling, and hazardous material transport requirements.
o Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without authority.
o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
o Proficiency with Power BI, Excel, Outlook, and database systems.
o Effective verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings and technical information.
o Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
o Curious and innovative mindset, with a passion for improving packaging systems that protect both product and people.

•Primarily site-based role
•Fast-paced, collaborative environment requires flexibility and adaptability.
•Exposure to loud noises (equipment/machinery) and office environments
•Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, gowning, lab coats, and earplugs as required
•Potential exposure to various outdoor weather conditions when supporting site operations
