Packaging Engineer II

Branchburg, NJ (100% Onsite)
Contract: 1 Year (Strong Potential for Extension)
Pay: $46–49/hour

The Fountain Group is seeking a Packaging Engineer II to support a leading global healthcare organization. This role is ideal for a packaging engineer with experience in medical devices, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, biologics, or another regulated industry who enjoys working on packaging development, design changes, specifications, testing, and cross-functional engineering projects.

This position will support both new and on-market packaging initiatives while partnering closely with Quality, Operations, Manufacturing, Logistics, Regulatory, and suppliers to implement packaging solutions in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement packaging solutions for medical device products
  • Write and maintain packaging specifications and technical documentation
  • Support packaging design verification, testing, validation, and investigations
  • Execute packaging engineering projects related to product and supplier changes
  • Participate in CAPA, change control, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement activities
  • Assess supplier capabilities and support packaging-related qualification activities
  • Ensure packaging complies with applicable regulatory and quality requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement packaging improvements and on-market changes
  • Support package component development, carton design, labeling, and packaging documentation as needed
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, innovation, and cost reduction

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline
  • Approximately 3–5 years of Packaging Engineering experience
  • Experience in medical device, healthcare, pharmaceutical, biologics, or another regulated industry
  • Experience writing packaging specifications and supporting document revisions
  • Experience with engineering change control processes
  • Knowledge of packaging testing, investigations, and design verification
  • Strong cross-functional communication and project coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Packaging Engineering
  • Healthcare packaging development experience
  • Experience supporting CAPA and Root Cause Analysis
  • Experience with packaging validation and verification activities
  • Experience with CAD, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks
  • Experience with labeling, carton design, or package development
  • Consumer packaged goods packaging experience with strong packaging engineering fundamentals

Ideal Background

We're looking for candidates with true Packaging Engineering experience. Healthcare packaging is strongly preferred, but we are also open to candidates from consumer packaged goods with a solid packaging engineering foundation.

Candidates should be comfortable working in a regulated environment and supporting specification writing, packaging changes, investigations, testing, and change control activities.

Relocation: Non-local candidates will be considered if they are willing to relocate to Branchburg, NJ at their own expense.
