Job Summary:
We are seeking a Packaging Engineer to support packaging development, engineering changes, and product solutions within a highly regulated healthcare manufacturing environment. This role will focus on designing, evaluating, and implementing packaging solutions while ensuring compliance with quality, regulatory, and operational requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience with packaging engineering, specification development, change control processes, and cross-functional collaboration within a medical device, pharmaceutical, or similar regulated industry.
Job Duties:
- Support packaging engineering projects related to new package designs, product changes, supplier updates, and packaging improvements.
- Develop, evaluate, and implement packaging solutions by applying engineering principles, industry standards, and technical requirements.
- Create and maintain packaging specifications, component requirements, and technical documentation.
- Support engineering change control activities, including documentation, reviews, approvals, and implementation.
- Plan and execute packaging evaluations, testing protocols, and validation activities.
- Investigate packaging-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and support corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Supply Chain to support packaging initiatives.
- Evaluate supplier changes, packaging materials, and manufacturing capabilities to ensure product quality and reliability.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and packaging optimization.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, quality systems, and company procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent technical experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of packaging engineering and/or operational engineering experience preferred.
- Experience with healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, biologics, or other regulated industries preferred.
- Strong understanding of packaging design, testing, specifications, and implementation processes.
- Experience creating technical documentation and managing engineering change control processes.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical requirements and documentation.
