The Bottle Packaging Line Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the packaging line to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production. This role involves coordinating line personnel, monitoring equipment and product quality, and ensuring adherence to production schedules, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate the activities of the packaging line crew, ensuring proper staffing and task assignments
Set up, operate, and monitor packaging equipment including bottle unscramblers, fillers, cappers, labelers, ink jet printer and case packers
Perform line clearances and changeovers efficiently and in compliance with SOPs
Train and guide packaging operators on procedures, safety protocols, and best practices
Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and quality standards, including FDA or other regulatory requirements (if applicable)
Monitor production output, identify bottlenecks or issues, and take corrective actions to maintain productivity
Conduct in-process quality checks (e.g., fill levels, label accuracy, lot/exp print, seal integrity) and complete necessary documentation
Communicate with supervisors, quality assurance, and maintenance teams regarding line performance, equipment needs, or deviations
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work area
Assist with investigations and root cause analysis of deviations or production issues
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to efficiency gains
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred
2+ years of experience in packaging operations, with at least 1 year in a leadership or line lead role
Strong knowledge of bottling and packaging machinery and processes
Understanding of GMP, SOPs, and safety practices (especially in pharmaceutical or food environments)
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
Basic computer skills (e.g., for recording production data or using ERP systems)
Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics, etc.)
Bilingual skills (e.g., English/Spanish) a plus
