The Packaging Lead supports the Operations Department to oversee and execute all aspects of packaging olive oil products. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the packaging team to include: maintaining a safe and clean work environment, managing team schedules and performance, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and on time. As the Packaging Lead, you will be responsible for organizing and executing successful packaging operations year-round.

You will typically work Monday – Friday, however, you may be required to work longer hours (weekends included) as needed throughout the year. This may occur more frequently during the duration of our olive harvest season, which typically runs from mid-October to late November.

This position will be primarily responsible to:

  • Execute all tasks using work instructions, checklists, and reaction plans, ensuring all staff adhere to these guidelines. Create and update these standard work instructions as well.
  • Lead and provide guidance to a team of approximately 5 employees in the manufacturing and packaging of olive oil. This includes training and supporting team members to foster a positive and accountable work culture.
  • Conduct daily shift huddles to communicate goals, schedule, and assignments according to supervisor and managers directions.
  • Participate in packaging operations as needed including but not limited to: automated, semi-automated, and manual packaging of olive oil, inventory tracking, and more.
  • Organize schedules and support meal and rest breaks based on shift needs.
  • With Supervisor, lead the production schedule to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders across multiple departments.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control standards and production specifications.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the packaging and related areas.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of packaging and daily tasks.
  • Continuously optimize and problem solve manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining product quality, reducing waste, and boosting productivity.
  • Track and communicate shift-level performance using established KPIs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 2-3 years of packaging manufacturing, or similar operations.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with team members.
    • Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to plan, schedule, and troubleshoot problems.
    • Basic computer proficiency in programs such as Excel, Word, E-mail, Microsoft Teams, and equipment control programs.
    • Ability to be certified for and operate the Forklift.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

          Preferred Qualifications:

          • 1-2 years of experience leading a team and providing direction.
          • Familiarity with Industrial Manufacturing Equipment.
          • Familiarity with Controls Systems, HMI, and dashboards.
          • At least two years’ experience in food or beverage manufacturing.

          Physical Requirements

          Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and moderate fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 25% or less sitting, 50% or more walking, and 50% or more standing. The job is performed under moderate temperature variations and in a manufacturing environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 45 lbs. is required.
