Job Description
Job Summary The Packaging Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing pharmaceutical packaging equipment to support high-speed operations. This role ensures validated operating parameters are maintained, preventive maintenance is performed, and production downtime is minimized. The mechanic will work with mechanical, electrical, PLC, and pneumatic systems in a GMP/cGMP-regulated environment. Key Responsibilities Perform setup and changeovers, adjustments, troubleshooting, and repairs on packaging line equipment Support high-speed packaging operations while maintaining validated parameters Troubleshoot systems including mechanical, electrical, PLC, and pneumatic Perform preventive maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns with minimal production impact Operate packaging equipment such as bottle fillers, cappers, labelers, cartoners, case packers, conveyors, and serialization systems Read and interpret schematics for troubleshooting and repairs Work with industrial electrical systems ranging from 120V to 480V Maintain documentation including work orders and PM records in SAP or similar systems Support equipment improvements, machine modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives Train packaging operators on equipment operation and changeovers Required Qualifications Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting pharmaceutical packaging equipment Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings/schematics Experience with industrial electrical systems (120V–480V) Knowledge of GMP/cGMP manufacturing environments Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills Preferred Qualifications Welding, fabrication, and electro-pneumatic troubleshooting experience Experience with SAP or similar maintenance documentation systems Prior experience training operators on packaging equipment Certifications (if any) None required; technical certifications in mechanics, electrical systems, or PLCs are a plus Education: Bachelors Degree
