Packaging Operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Verify that sufficient product is available to run through wrapping machine and correct film is being used.
• Make sure belts, rollers and product side of the film are clean and free of any debris.
• Perform minor machine adjustments to the wrapper and film alignment to ensure that product is being packaged according to specifications.
• Monitor and inspect product package quality out of cutting head, ensuring film alignment is within specification.
• Operate wrapping machine at a manageable speed to ensure best productivity
• Assist other positions in the department as necessary to maintain flow of product into the wrapping machine.
• Compile all down time information relative to the line and to the wrapping machine.
• Ensure that the finished product conforms to the instructions provided in the work order.
• Able to pay close attention to detail and have good hand-eye coordination.
• Must be able to visually and physically inspect as product is being wrapped to identify quality concerns.
• Submit all paperwork to supervisor at end of shift and report anything causing downtime.
• Must be organized and able to keep work areas clean and free of congestion to manage product overflow.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to give instructions to direct tasks of packaging line workers.
• Ability to effectively communicate with other employees as to status of production.
• Ability to understand the components necessary for the packaging line.

Physical Requirements:

• Sound hand-eye coordination and able to cope with moderate physical effort.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend and stoop as needed.
