Packaging QA Laboratory Technician — Paper & FSQA
Where: Florence, KY
Pay: $20.55–$22.55 per hour
Schedule: Day Shift, 7am–7pm

What you will tackle
Practice safe work habits at all times; adhere to PPE requirements (steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hair/beard nets) and food service policies.
Maintain a tidy, 5S-compliant workspace.
Verify adherence to plant and corporate safety policies; elevate concerns to supervisors as needed.
Capture and log samples from assigned machines; label and catalog for traceability.
Audit finished goods (skids/bales) at random for conformance to specifications.
Execute lab tests: paper tensile and handle strength, ink rub resistance, bar code readability, and basis weight.
Operate QA equipment: tensile tester, Sutherland rub tester, bar code scanner, and gram scale.
Support OSHA/EPA compliance across daily activities.
Assist with internal inspections and audits; record findings in required safety systems.
Participate in weekly OSHA-aligned safety meetings; contribute to plant safety committee objectives.
Deliver or assist with safety training for shipping/receiving and production personnel.
Issue end-of-shift summaries outlining safety and quality issues, resolutions, and remaining escalations.
Drive the GEMBA program: ensure audits are timely, track trends, and address repeat or critical issues; update the system of record.
Communicate clearly with production teams, supervisors, and Corporate Safety/Quality via email, calls, and meetings.
Coordinate and lead food safety certification activities.
Partner with the Corporate EHS Manager on safety and environmental initiatives.
Complete and document Mobile Inspections.
Use Microsoft Excel to prepare reports and document test/audit outcomes.
Assist investigations into customer complaints; help resolve quality concerns.
Conduct required training and facilitate new hire orientation as needed.
Comply with Food Contact Packaging Safety per the SQF Quality Manual and GMPs.
Continuously monitor product quality; ensure all corporate and plant quality procedures are followed.
Perform and record audits: Monthly Sanitation and Security, GMPs, Master Cleaning Schedules, and Glass & Brittle Plastics.
Analyze customer complaints and support claims against carriers, formal corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
What you bring
At least 2 years of experience in production, quality, or safety within manufacturing or warehousing.
Comfortable with reading, writing, and basic math; familiarity with quality standards.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong written and verbal communication; able to lead cross-level meetings.
Self-managed, organized, analytical, and effective at time management.
