Job Title: Packaging Technician

Job Description

This position is responsible for the proper assembly, labeling, and quality of clinical supplies. The temporary packaging technician follows standard operating procedures and supervisory instructions to ensure compliance with customer specifications. This role is suited for employees who can perform most phases of clinical packaging but still require supervision in some areas.


Responsibilities


+ Review batch paperwork and instructions to understand and perform packaging procedures required for each clinical study.

+ Package and label syringes, bottles, boxes, and cases.

+ Clean packaging rooms and machinery as needed in a clean room environment.

+ Perform manual and automated filling and packaging of bottled pharmaceutical products independently, while approving labeling and checking quality.

+ Ensure proper labeling and drug placement using various sealing machinery.

+ Assemble clinical supplies ensuring proper label placement.

+ Accurately count out and prepare packages, such as pill bottles and syringe packs, to ensure proper packaging.

+ Perform final checks of work in-process and finished products, then pack goods into appropriately labeled containers or boxes.

+ Assist in staging and reconciliation of components.


Essential Skills


+ High School Diploma or GED

+ Attention to detail, as quality mistakes can have serious consequences.

+ Ability to work in a cold room as needed (10 hours a week), with all PPE provided.

+ Willingness to work mandatory overtime as needed.

+ Good handwriting.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Preferred experience in manufacturing or production, or at least in a warehouse.

+ Experience in production environments aiming toward specific goals.

+ Pharmaceutical manufacturing experience is ideal.

Work Environment


The role is in a pharmaceutical packaging department, which is a clean room environment requiring full gown, shoe covers, hairnet, beard net, and safety glasses at all times. This position involves some time in a cold room environment (35-46 F), with appropriate cold weather PPE provided. All hours worked in the cold room will be paid a $2 premium. Employees interact with all production operation employees, engineering, inventory, and quality assurance personnel. External contact is limited to client personnel observing packaging operations. The shifts are 1st Shift (6:30 AM - 3:15 PM, M-F) and 2nd Shift (2:45 PM - 1:30 AM, M-TH), with frequent overtime from 2 PM to 8 PM on Fridays. Overtime is mandatory and subject to change based on production needs, typically requiring 4-5 extra days per month.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.80/hr.
