Position Summary
The Furniture Packer is a hands-on role responsible for assembling shipping containers and packing various types of furniture to ensure safe and secure shipment. This position requires reading and interpreting orders, performing quality inspections, determining appropriate packing methods, operating packing equipment, and preparing furniture for transport.

Key Responsibilities

• Review orders to ensure correct quality and quantity of items received
• Inspect furniture for quality prior to packing
• Determine the appropriate container type (cardboard or wood) and required dimensions
• Build shipping containers using appropriate materials
• Operate cardboard box-making machinery
• Use hand and power tools including drilling, screwing, sawing, nailing, and hammering
• Brace furniture for stability using strapping, plastic, foam, or other protective materials
• Insert finished products into safe and secure shipping containers
• Label shipping containers according to specifications
• Shrink wrap or plastic wrap packaged items as required
• Weigh packed containers and accurately transfer data to dimension sheets for logistics
• Assist with unloading and loading of materials as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
